Spring Highlights

It’s been an action packed term here at Trafford Music Service. Let’s take a look at all the amazing activities that have been happening across the borough and beyond.

Battle of the Bands Greater Manchester Hub Final

Trafford’s winners ‘Disgarded’ represented the borough, joining eight other finalists from each of the Greater Manchester boroughs. Held at Manchester Academy 2, the event was a huge success, with Professor Andy Stott from the RNCM adjudicating this year’s competition. Congratulations to the 2024 GM Hub winners: ‘Shoehorn’ from Bury!

Singing Festivals

An astonishing 1300 children from all over Trafford took part in the first instalment of our singing festivals at the Waterside Arts Centre in Sale. Here are some photos from the wonderful Springfield Primary School featuring their amazing singers.

Another 950 singers will take to the stage in July - we can’t wait to hear them!

Stoller Hall Concerts

All of our ensembles took part in our Spring concerts at the Stoller Hall in Manchester. The deputy mayor for Greater Manchester Kate Green was there to show her support, alongside Cllr Tom Ross and many other special guests.

Guitar Masterclass

Craig Ogden visited our Saturday Guitar Ensembles to deliver a fantastic and informative guitar masterclass to the students.

Australian guitarist Craig Ogden, praised by BBC Music Magazine as "A worthy successor to Julian Bream," is one of his generation's most exciting artists and the youngest instrumentalist to ever receive a Fellowship Award from the Royal Northern College of Music. He has an acclaimed discography, performed with top orchestras worldwide, and premiered numerous works, including concertos by Andy Scott, David Gordon, David Knotts, William Lovelady, and Greg Caffrey.
