Summer Showcase

Welcome to the second showcase of music production projects! Unlike our traditional ensembles, music production doesn't culminate in a live performance. Instead, it's best shared digitally.

Each half-term will feature a specific theme, delving into new aspects of music production while reinforcing previously learned skills.

About the modules

Students continued to explore the realm of music production, mastering the use of 'smart instruments' in GarageBand. They explored live recording, chord changes, patterns, and melodic lines.

The instruments are intuitively designed so that even beginners can grasp the essential musical elements. Next, they learned to utilise the sampler, recording and manipulating sounds to replicate various sound effects. By incorporating other sound effects and loops, they crafted audio that aimed to match the introduction scene from the horror film ‘Sleepy Hollow’.

In the final few weeks of term, students adopted a cross-curricular approach by designing their own video games. They then used microphones and vocal effects along with 8-bit style music to create short musical passages for their games. They designed some graphics to advertise their games, so that listeners can get a feel for the style of game.
