Welcome to the fourth showcase for music production projects! Unlike our traditional ensembles, music production doesn't culminate in a live performance. Instead, it's best shared digitally.

Each half-term will feature a specific theme, delving into new aspects of music production while reinforcing previously learned skills.

About module

This half-term, students embraced the festive spirit by exploring remixing and sampling through the theme of Christmas music. Using MIDI keyboards, they performed classic Christmas melodies into their projects, learning how to refine their recordings through quantisation—a technique that aligns rhythms to the nearest beat or subdivision—and by editing individual notes within the MIDI data.

Once their melodies were polished, students expanded their arrangements by adding layered instrumentation and experimenting with genre transformations to create unique remixes. Some students even took on the challenge of crafting two arrangements in contrasting styles, showcasing their creativity and versatility.
