Music lessons

Trafford Rock & Pop Academy

At Trafford Rock and Pop Academy we offer the opportunity for pupils of all musical abilities to come together and develop their instrumental skills within a band setting.

Have you ever wanted to form a band in school or with friends and not been sure how to go about it? Have you ever watched your favourite band or singer on TV and wondered how you could learn to perform like them one day? Then come along to our Rock and Pop Academy!

Session 1: 4pm – 5pm
Session 2: 5pm – 6pm

Throughout the course, pupils will develop basic performance skills and musicality on the following instruments: guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, drum kit and vocals within a band setting. By term three, pupils will be encouraged to choose an instrument that they want to develop further and take their playing to a more advanced level. In addition to learning songs across various genres pupils will be given the opportunity to compose their own songs by completing a blues and popular song writing module. Pupils will perform at a minimum of two Trafford Music Service events during the academic year.

Intermediate to advanced band sessions (age 13 – 18)

When: Wednesdays
Where: Claremont Centre
Times: 6pm – 7pm

This session is aimed at pupils aged 13 – 18 who want to take their playing to a more advanced level. Pupils will develop greater knowledge, depth and understanding of the popular music genres covered in the beginner – intermediate course. Pupils may be thinking about taking music for BTEC, GCSE or even A Level and may need extra support with their ensemble performance modules. This course is an excellent option to supplement their musical learning in school, sixth form or college. Pupils will perform at a minimum of two Trafford Music Service events during the academic year and will be encouraged to enter the Greater Manchester Hub Battle of The Bands competition.
