All Trafford students are welcome – whether you have lessons through Trafford Music Service or not, you’ll be very welcome to come and try one of our many ensembles. There’s also a tuck shop – we suggest no more than £1. Plus we have regular concerts in very prestigious venues.
The basis of a symphony orchestra is its string section. A string ensemble is the best way to learn how to play together, whilst having fun. Come and play! Details on how to register and try out an ensemble are at the bottom of the page.
The String Ensemble is vibrant and friendly giving players their first experience of ensemble playing. They rehearse on a Monday evening from 5.15pm to 6.15pm. The ensemble is aimed at beginners who have been playing their instrument for at least one term. As well as studying a range of music, we develop reading skills and performance skills. Repertoire will improve and build on 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers (4th fingers for cellists)
Time: Monday, term time – 5.15pm – 6.15pm
Venue: Claremont Centre, Sale
Children will learn correct sitting posture and concert etiquette. They will also learn how to annotate their own music, so they will need to bring a pencil to rehearsals.
Our beginner/intermediate string orchestra runs on a Friday evening from 6.30pm to 8.15pm. Players gain experience and have the incentive of moving up to our Sinfonia and Philharmonic Orchestras. It is suitable for string players of Grade 2 and above, to join just come and try it out!
Time: Friday, term time, 6.30pm – 8.15pm
Venue: Claremont Centre, Sale
